- HKU Gallant Ho Experiential Learning Project (January 2026 – August 2027)
- A funded experiential learning project that aims to enhance speech-language pathology skills in managing acquired communication disorders is now open exclusively to Year 4 and Year 5 SLP students.
- This project will allow students to engage in clinical placements within adult hospital wards in the Chinese Mainland, focusing on neurogenic communication disorders in Mandarin-speaking patients.
- There will be two rounds of activities to be held in summer 2026 and summer 2027. For each round, 8 students will participate in this experiential learning activity and stay in the Chinese Mainland for 2 weeks.
- Cost: Traveling expenses (i.e., return air-ticket and local transportation) and hotel accommodation in the Chinese Mainland will be covered by Prof. Kong’s Gallant Ho Experiential Learning Fund.

- ART Lab Student Internship in Gesture and Language Research Projects (September 2025 to April 2026)
- The ART Lab is recruiting student interns for our gesture and language research projects.
- Internship Details:
- Candidate Requirements: a) Native Cantonese speaker, b) Majoring in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field, and c) Passionate about aphasia or gesture research.
- Location: Local Community Centers and HKU.
- Working Hour Requirement: At least one full day (or two half days) per week.
- Training: Receive training and gain hands-on experience in delivering standardized assessments, language intervention, gesture coding, and multimodal discourse analysis.
- A certificate of participation will be awarded upon completion.

- ART Lab Student Internship (September 2025 to April 2026)
- We are now recruiting student experimenter for our cutting-edge research projects. These projects focus on aphasia intervention, EEG, and brain stimulation. Candidates shall be:
- Native Cantonese speakers
- Major in Speech Language Pathology
- Passionate in aphasia or neuroscience research
- No prior knowledge in neuroscience is required
- Internship Details:
- Location: Primarily at HKU
- Hours: Approximately one day per week, flexible schedule
- Training: Comprehensive training will be provided in aphasia assessment and treatment, EEG brain scanning, transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS), and discourse analysis.

- Research Postgraduate Students

- Student volunteers
- Students who are interested in volunteering in the ART Lab will work closely with our in-house researchers and speech therapists on large-scale projects involving assessment and/or intervention of Chinese speakers with aphasia in Hong Kong. Successful applicants will be trained on developing assessment materials, conducting aphasia testing and data coding, as well as assessment and intervention experiments. - This is a collaboration with Huashan Hospital affiliated with the Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University, Shanghai

- Collaboration with local SLP students: Participants will work alongside Shanghai SLP students to develop appropriate assessment and management strategies for native Mandarin-speaking patients.

- Educational talk/workshop: Under Prof. Kong’s supervision, students will share their knowledge and expertise with local clinicians in Shanghai by delivering presentations and leading interactive sessions
